I am definitely one to take advantage of any chance I get to play with my food. ;) I've seen fruit and vegetable Christmas trees before, served at holiday parties, and they're always a big hit. But I thought, why not make a simple version that my little boy could take part in making? We did it, and as I had hoped, it was a hit--even for our little party of 2!
An assortment of vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and fruits can be used. So many fun, healthy options! These are what we had in the house:
I laid out the two sides of the "tree" with cucumber slices so that Brooks could have a start (your kiddos may want to start from scratch!). Then he filled it in and added the "ornaments." He loved decorating his very own Christmas tree! And we bothed loved snacking on it together! You can enjoy your tree plain, or dip the pieces in dressing or hummus or whatever you like with your veggies.
And this doubles as snack time and meal prep! I put the vegetables we didn't use in the fridge and tossed it all in a green salad we had for dinner later that night. :)
