It's been a very long time since I shared my favorite beauty products here and thought it might be good to bring it back to the blog since I've changed so much of what I use this past year. I also am constantly getting asked what I use for different things, so I figured regular posts might help answer those questions more in depth.
Essential Oils~ always my oils... there's one for everything! I love experimenting with different kinds to find what my body does and doesn't respond to. Currently I've been diffusing Citrus Bliss almost daily to keep our home happy, Lavender around my eyes to prevent wrinkles and On Guard + Breathe for Wesley while he sleeps to warn off those icky winter colds.
Coconut Oil Stick~ I know, coconut oil is a trendy thing right now, but it's actually one I support. I love that we can buy a huge jar of it and not bother with buying all the other stuff. Diaper rash, dry skin, a weekly hair mask, deodorant, make up remover, cradle cap... we use it for everything. The two ways I apply it daily are as a face and belly moisturizer (which makes using it in the stick form really convenient). Every woman's body is different but for me personally, I used it throughout my pregnancy with Wesley and didn't get any stretch marks. It leaves my skin soft and supple and I love that. As far as using it on my face, I know a lot of people are weary of this and can't get used to the idea of putting oil on their face, but it's the only thing that has kept my skin clear. I only wash my face once per day (at night), apply the oil after and am fully moisturized the entire day following. I'm an esthetician, so I've used a lot of products out there, and never did I think a non-chemical, natural oil would be the thing that would work best for me. Anyone of you who suffer from sensitive, acne prone skin like me who have wanted to try it, I suggest testing it out for at least a month before ruling it out. It really has changed the way I view skin care.
Toms Toothpaste~ I just started using the Toms brand for my toothpaste and love it. I had been using the DoTerra brand previously, but I never felt like my teeth were getting as clean as they should be. This does the job and leaves a fresh peppermint aftertaste as well.
Homemade deodorant~ My good friend Tisse shared this recipe on her blog and it actually works! I've tried several natural deodorants before and haven't found one that is strong enough, lasts all day and smells good all at the same time. So easy and cheap to make and easily lasts a month. This stuff is gold.
Oil Diffuser~ this year I received this diffuser as a Christmas gift and I have loved it. It's nice being able to use oils in other ways other than just topically. It's perfect for purifying, brightening the mood or sanitizing any room in your house. I love the way it makes our home feel.
That's it for this month, but I'll definitely share more soon! And because I am always curious, what are your favorite clean living routines and/or products?
